The “Chemin de Flavigny” Lieu-dit provides an atypical expression of Chardonnay: its location at the foot of the slope favours accumulation of alluvial deposits and diminishes exposure to the wind. The terroir is exposed to extreme heat in the summer; however, the chalk subsoil enables regulation of water intake, ensuring that plants develop harmoniously. They load up on chalky mineral (subsoil) and clayey (soil) elements to provide a generous, gourmet expression.
Laurent Vaillant
Autumn 2014 was mild and rainy, followed by a typical winter: except for a drop in temperature in early February 2015, there were no strong frosts and rainfall was homogeneous across the region. There was no rain between mid-May and mid-August, leaving the vines almost without water for 10 weeks, except in Les Riceys. There was exceptional insolation of vines, equivalent to 2003. Nonetheless, the second half of August was marked by impressive cumuli, while the cool, dry weather in September helped preserve the harvest in its turn.
