The “Les Corroies de Bas” Lieu-dit provides a pure, clear expression of Chardonnay. The powerful mineral tonality specific to the Le Mesnil-sur-Oger terroir is accompanied by the aromatic uniqueness of the parcel selected by Champagnes Lombard. This Champagne Blanc de Blancs’ lemony freshness is combined with surprising hints of mocha.

The “Les Corroies de Bas” Lieu-Dit provides an atypical expression of Chardonnay: its mid-slope location favoured deposits of graveluche (chalk and loam gravels), ensuring a full-bodied wine. The chalky resonance is expressed by a “meringuey” mouthfeel: a chalky patina tinged with warmer notes (pear, fresh hazelnut and mocha).
There was heavy rainfall in Champagne throughout spring 2016. The 1995 record was exceeded, with 513 mm falling in 6 months. With unrelenting cold spells, there were frequent major frosts from 18 to 27 April: rather late frosts resulting in considerable damage to a number of sectors, including Barrois. Summer saw the rains easing off, but brought extreme heat in late August leading to widespread scalding.
